Professional Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Cellular Tester to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in device testing and certification, with a strong understanding of wireless technologies, network architectures, and mobile device protocols. This role involves performing comprehensive testing and certification activities in both laboratory and field environments, investigating device issues, and effectively communicating findings to OEM and chipset manufacturers. This is a critical role requiring a commitment to five days a week in our Philadelphia office.

Key Responsibilities

Device Testing and Certification

  • Perform mobile-device testing and certification activities.
  • Conduct thorough testing in laboratory and field environments.
  • Test and analyze performance for both iOS and Android devices.
  • Collect and triage device logs to analyze device behavior across various wireless scenarios.

Wireless Technology and Protocol Analysis

  • Support testing for a range of wireless technologies including 4G and 5G (Standalone and Non-Standalone).
  • Conduct testing for mmWave, VoLTE, VoWiFi, RCS, SMS, and MMS.
  • Understand and analyze applicable network architectures and protocols.
  • Evaluate call flows involving RRC and NAS protocols across different test scenarios.

Logging and Issue Investigation

  • Utilize device logging tools such as XCAP, XCAL, and QXDM for log collection and review.
  • Triage logs to identify and investigate device and network issues observed in laboratory and field testing.
  • Develop clear and concise technical explanations of identified device issues.

Data Analytics and Visualization

  • Employ data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Databricks, or other cloud-based platforms) to analyze device testing information.
  • Present test findings effectively through these platforms.

Technical Communication

  • Clearly articulate device issues to OEM partners and chipset manufacturers.
  • Present device behavior and issue evidence as a compelling technical story.

Technical Requirements (Must-Have)

  • 7+ years of hands-on device testing and certification experience in laboratory and field environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of 4G and 5G wireless technologies, including 5G Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) architecture.
  • Familiarity with mmWave technology.
  • Understanding of VoLTE and VoWiFi.
  • Knowledge of RCS, SMS, and MMS architecture and protocols.
  • Understanding of call flows involving RRC and NAS protocols.
  • 2+ years of experience testing iOS and Android devices.
  • 2+ years of experience collecting and triaging device logs.
  • 2+ years of experience with device logging tools such as XCAP, XCAL, and QXDM.
  • 2+ years of experience with data analytics or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Databricks, or other cloud-based analytics platforms).
  • Excellent ability to clearly communicate complex device issues to OEM and chipset manufacturers.
  • Ability to work five days per week in the Philadelphia office.
